Crazy Little Thing Called Love begins!


A matter of hours before we set out, and there's a myriad of feelings churning in me. It's finally here, we're finally here. It's been an experience in many ways and to some degree, there were some moments that surprised me, other moments that left me wondering if we could pull through. However, plenty of times as the team grew closer - an assuring encouragement and support for one another.

It's been a tough rehearsal season considering our very own and different seasons in life for all are now working adults balancing work and rehearsals and other commitments, and other young passionate hearts in between school and another had just started college. What I found most intriguing this year is that the team has grown in numbers, and everything else including props!

The ministry has grown, the hearts have committed and to be honest, SJGC has somewhat become a resting place for me in the last few months.

Our theme on love covering multiple segments and definition leaves anyone who watches the play really consider the one or many relationships that they are in. At different points - we'll laugh, cry or maybe do both at the same time but whatever it is - the love that we share and talk about remains a major question in the composition of secularity and how do we draw meaning and relevance for our lives.

Commercial love cliches are majorly popular. Getting hitched and being ditched are new set lunches offering better value and recovery modes. People sweep it off to easily nowadays. The consideration is hardly felt when I have my conversations about this particular theme. Most seek comfort and security. Some hide behind them.

This entire season, allowed me to explore that and made me question - what is love?

I'm still very much figuring out but throughout this process with the footstool players and how we have come together, and worked hard together, prayed together and fellowship; these are my possible takeouts about love.

Love is a commitment
Love is a focus
Love is tough
Love is encouraging
Love is respect
Love is trusting one another
Love is crazy! (why we do the things we do)

And I'm glad through it all, is the fact that we love God and we love His people.
The focus of a ministry is to ultimately minister to people.

And today, we begin this as we too, have been ministered in one way or another.

We have done the best, we have prepared the most, we have face a set of audience with feedback, we have rested as much as we can albeit tiring rehearsals to ensure we tighten up what was needed (and probably some left to go)

I am reminded that its about Him and not us, that we are His instruments and God will take us through.

    it's always encouraging to read what you have to say.. and honestly it inspires me to write better.. the habit to break i suppose is to not be lazy..

    Here's a thought for you for the monologue... very much like how you take your readers on a journey of your mind.. think of 'I'm My Father's Son' as just that.

    You telling your story, which is really what it's all about. Not saying it's not good as it is.... but it's another food for thought, to take it to the next level. See you thurs.. or whenever :)

    hey, you're too kind :) you've been an amazing encouragement too. definitely a breath of fresh air into FsP - your aronil-ness :) hehe.

    yeah, i tend to agree with you on the monologue bit. I'm also trying to take it to the next level myself. Just still finding ground.

    Perhaps you're right Lin, the thing about writing here in my domanin - it's raw.

    And maybe that is how the delivery should be - raw; just transparent.

    The emotional gear shifting exhaust me and like you said in your entry very correctly. It's never the same night, it's always like an opening. And I continue to invest - a little more goes in, a part of you gets more into that character.

    Furthermore, it's a REAL character (means an actual person who wrote it, carrying his thoughts. mind blowing!) and also the transparency of the relationship between me and my father.

    It's a tall order but I'm getting there bit by bit through his grace and love, for it is sufficient for all of us. Indeed.

    Always a pleasure, it's always helpful and even more inspiring to help a fellow actor.

    Naw I can't be that much of a fresh air.. in anycase I do give you guys all the mints i have lol.

    Yeah, exactly the acting needs to be raw, to give it that very personal touch. There was one time, I remember listening to Jon, read his lines with Ann on Ledger people. He was very calm, and just said it as it was. Even if it was just running lines, I believed it.

    It's a very 'GREY' and hypocritical thing acting. As much as we say one should not see you. But at the same time you need the rawness which is you to give the character you're playing it's depth.

    bwaaaahhh it's circular reasoning haha
